Esteem Development Programmes BOOST Confidence by 33%

As part of Esteem Developments ongoing Quality Assurance measures we routinely assess the value of the programmes we run. To achieve this we analyse data we collect from, before and after all the programmes that we run. Our most recent analyses show that the confidence of offenders who attend Esteem Development programmes increases by an average of 33%.

Mission Statement:

"This company’s activities will provide benefit to communities in Yorkshire – and other geographical areas as may be required – by assisting in the reduction of re-offending. In particular the company's activities will benefit those who will often be considered vulnerable people. They will in the main be individuals or groups who may have an offending background and are linked with probation services, however in some circumstances the company activities will extend to those who are at risk of – or are affected by – offending behaviour.

In delivering the above benefits to these communities we will – as the organisation grows; capacity increases; and ideas evolve – ensure that real-term benefits will only increase for the communities themselves. All surplus profits will be reinvested directly into engaging hard-to-reach individuals and groups; enhancing employability; and reducing reoffending."

Esteem Development works with organisations whose clients will often be vulnerable people; they may have an offending background and be linked with probation services.

Esteem Development organises and delivers outdoor programmes that help build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. These programmes provide accredited qualifications through the Open College Network enabling participants to really improve their employability skills.

How Esteem Development Works:

Esteem Programmes have been delivered by the current Managing Director of Esteem Development since 2001, through Leeds City College (formally Park Lane College) until June 2010, by Esteem Development Ltd up to February 2014 and now by Esteem Development Community Interest Company. In this time, over 1500 offenders have benefited from Esteem programmes.

"I now have much higher self-esteem and I am happy meeting new people and new situations, I see myself continuing to develop and gain
stable employment."

David - esteem development participant

Esteem Development has an excellent track record of engaging difficult ‘hard to reach’ offenders. We recognise that many of Esteem programme participants have had a very poor experience of education. Often for the first time in their lives participants work as a member of an effective team and gain recognition for their achievements, through accredited and non-accredited qualifications.
